Years ago Karyne Laurent began dabbling with making fruit arrangements in Queens, New York where she grew up. She attended a culinary arts school in New York City and she dropped out only a few months of graduating because of financial reasons. Cooking and decorating was always a passion that was instilled by her mother who had the artistic abilities. Karyne was always called to use her talents to decorate tables for friends' weddings and birthdays. Although Karyne has not gone full time into the culinary arena, her talent remained dormant until 2007 when it awakened as she learned of a company that also created edible arrangements.
In 2008 Karyne became an entrepreneur and has
incorporated a for profit business called "Racing 4 The Son" for remote
control car racing enthusiasts (http://racing4theson.web.officelive.com) and in 2009 incorporated a not-for-profit organization called
"Writn' 4 da Son". Writn' 4 da Son was created so that the young artists using spray paint (graffiti) would be able to paint on walls legitimately. Writn' 4 da Son was my son's brain child. Please visit our web site at http://writn4dason.webs.com. Contact us if you have a wall you need sprayed, painted or tagged with graffiti legally and we will be happy to do the job for a meager donation to keep the ministry going.
At about mid 2010, creating and designing bouquets became prominent. God stirred that intense love for creating once more as He stirred that burning love in her heart for Him. Karyne created bouquets for a few friends and work for birthdays and office events. January 2011, Karyne began marketing and advertising her work to several businesses in the area.
The company is donating part of the proceeds to local worthy organizations: The Family Alzheimer's Center and The Arielle Anacker Foundation. Alzheimer’s Family Center is dedicated “ to improving the lives of families affected by Alzheimer’s Disease and other memory disorders”. There is no known cause of the disease and no cure is available. It is an illness that cannot be reversed or altered, loved ones can only watch in a state of hopelessness and despair as the quality of life is drained from a parent, spouse or elder family member. Caregivers suppress feelings of rage as well as confusion, they simply don’t know where to turn, what to do….or how to cope. At AFC they aid the caregiver. The Center understands the requirements of this age group; they know the effects of aging, the limitations of their ability to function without proper assistance and support. Please visit their website http://www.alzcenter.org and sign up as a volunteer. Karyne's father has Alzheimer's and she has received respite care when she needed to run errands or go to job interviews as well down time for herself.
Karyne recently met Diane Trivelli, a mother whose daughter passed away at a tender age of 11 years old due to Ewings Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. This courageous mom did not allow her daughter's death be in vain. She has established a foundation for kids with the disease like her daughter who aren't able to afford treatment to received assistance and give their parents peace of mind. Please read all about Arielle Anacker at http://arielleanackercancerfoundation.org. Karyne 's goal is to have a successful fruit bouquet business that can benefit everyone. Fruit Bouquets by Karyne will also be teaching young women (juniors and seniors) from our local high school about entrepreneurship and starting their own business.
